Una disputa entre el actor de doblaje de Claptrap, David Eddings, y el director ejecutivo de Gearbox, Randy Pitchford, parece haber surgido en los últimos tiempos, ya que Eddings ha acusado a Pitchford de agresión física, después de que Pitchford decidiera prescindir del actor en Borderlands 3.
Un usuario de Twitter preguntó a Eddings, que había doblado a Claptrap en todos los juegos anteriores de Borderlands, si iba a regresar a Borderlands 3. Eddings respondió que no iba a aparecer por primera vez y que la razón era porque quería que le pagaran por su trabajo de voz en lugar de hacerlo “gratis”. También hay que saber, que Eddings fue Vicepresidente de Desarrollo de Negocios de Gearbox hasta que dejó la compañía en 2017.

Sin embargo, Pitchford salió a la palestra y afirmó que a Eddings se le ofreció el doble del sueldo por aparecer. Además, dijo Eddings estaba “amargado y descontento” por haber sido rechazado del proyecto.
There was no “force” – He wanted it (and reveled in it). The issue today is that Mr. Eddings is bitter and disgruntled about having been terminated. He was offered 2x scale, he refused. I don’t want him to do it unless he wants to do it, as motivation affects performance.

La historia continuó anoche, cuando Eddings abrió un hilo en Twitter revelando que se le pidió a finales del año pasado que repitiera el papel y que estaba dispuesto a hacerlo gratis, siempre y cuando Pitchford se disculpara públicamente por un altercado que, según Eddings, ocurrió durante la GDC 2017 cuando fue agredido físicamente por Pitchford.

Eddings también hizo referencia a la actual demanda en curso entre Pitchford y el antiguo abogado de Gearbox, Wade Callender, con este último acusando a Pitchford de recibir una bonificación secreta de 12 millones de dólares.
Polémica aparte, Borderlands 3 saldrá en Xbox One, PC y PS4 el 13 de septiembre.
